Tonea Stewart (born February 3, 1947), also known as Tommie Stewart, is an actress and university professor from the United States. She was the former dean of Alabama State University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts in Montgomery, Alabama.

She played Aunt Etta Kibby in the American television series In the Heat of the Night and was nominated for an NAACP Image Award for her performance in the film A Time to Kill. From the start of her acting career until 2019, Stewart worked both as an instructor and an actress. She did not start acting full-time until she retired from teaching.

Stewart made his feature debut in the television film Nightmare in Badham County (1976). She starred in the movie Mississippi Burning as Mrs. Walker (1988). Stewart portrayed Aunt Etta Kibby on In the Heat of the Night from 1991 to 1993.

She had previously played a different character on the show, but executives wanted her back in her new part after seeing how well she performed. Body Snatchers, Livin’ Large, Mississippi Damned, and Girls Trip all starred Stewart as an actor.
