Who is Terri Ficca?

Terri Ficca was a great woman who was a teacher from Providence Pike. No. Smithfield was born as the daughter of Dolores (Lefebvre) Ficca, her mother, who is of No. Smithfield, and the late Anthony P. Ficca, her lovely father, both of whom played a great role in bringing her up.

She, however, lived most of her life in Woonsocket, where she had her education and graduated from high school in 1978.

Having graduated from high school, she made a decision to move to No. Smithfield in 2005, where she had her tertiary level of education, graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Outdoor Recreation from the University of Maine at Presque Isle, and received her teaching certificate in Elementary Education at Roger Williams University.

Terri Ficca went on to pursue a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education.

An elementary school teacher in the Woonsocket School Department indicated that before her death, she was teaching third grade at Globe Park School, where Miss Ficca was loved by her students and co-workers and will be greatly missed.

Terri Ficca also worked for many years at Eastern Mountain Sports and was well known for her outdoor educational seminars for the company. In keeping with her adventuresome spirit, Terri enjoyed camping, kayaking, and hiking, which included most of the Appalachian Trail. An active volunteer, she trained area Boy Scouts, coached Woonsocket softball for 12 years, participated in the Globe Park Parent Teacher Association, and was a member of Big Sisters of America. She also loved golfing and her two pets, Talkeetna and Maka.

Besides her mother, she is survived by a sister, Christine Belisle and her husband Normand of Spring Hill, FL, and two brothers, Thomas Ficca and his wife Ann Marie of No. Smithfield and Anthony Ficca, II and his wife Janet of Norfolk, VA. A beloved aunt, ‘T’ also leaves her nieces and nephews, Bethany Leduc, Aimee Kenyon, Gary, Melissa, Emily, Robert, and Jacob Ficca.
